How to make intercourse less painful

Intercourse is something most people don’t expect to be painful after the first time, but for some people with Endometriosis or not but there are ways to help make sex less painful it’s just about finding what works for you.  The first thing is don’t try and have sex if you are already in pain because it will only make it worse; try and have sex on days with little to no discomfort so that it makes it easier to cope.  Lube is your best friend; use it a lot. Water-based is one of the best kinds.  Take it slowly and take breaks if you need to, don’t try and rush yourself into it.  Make sure to empty your bladder before and after sex and maybe even have a warm shower to relax your muscles before you get down to business.  You could try painkillers before sex or an ice pack after sex to help with any pain at the site.  If all else fails, you can buy Dilater to help slowly stretch you out to make it less painful.  If you suffer pain in your uterus af...

Ways to boost your mood

When you are in pain consistently, your mood can take a turn for the worst. I have spent years in a rut with my emotions because of the consistent and intense pain endo causes. Sometimes all you need is a pick me up and these are the ways that I boost my mood. Rest: Your body goes through a lot so sometimes the best thing to do is rest, That could be to game or take a nap. Relax: I love to relax in a nice hot bath with Epsom salts but relaxing could just be laying in bed with a candlelit or incense  Zone out: I love to either have a podcast, movie or music playing and to just zone the world out.  Do what makes you happy: go out with friends or just do something that makes you feel happy  Exercise and eating well can also impact your mood so try and stay active and eat as well as possible.

Travelling with Endometriosis

Living with Endometriosis is a nightmare, but it can be made worse so quickly when you have to travel.  Growing up each year, we would go away on holiday. Sometimes it was a drive up the country; other times, it was a flight, but each trip was almost always around my birthday. Every year for my birthday, I would have my period, so it was a living nightmare to enjoy my trip away while suffering, but I have a few tips to help you on your travelling journey that I have learned over the years. Travel with a Heating pack and Tens unit: If you are like me and you use hot water bottles and electric throw blankets as your heating pack at home, you can buy small heating packs for travelling to help combat some of that uncomfortable feeling. You can also bring your TENS unit with you as well. Bring your medications and sanitary products: Don't be like me and think you will be okay without them because you are in a good time with your endo at the moment. I did this one year and landed up ge...

How to handle flare ups

Flare-ups are rough; the pain that is felt is exhausting, you want to curl up and hide forever and just want it to end, but it's just another one of those horrible side effects of endometriosis. There are ways, however, to get some relief during a flare-up. First, I should probably talk about what an Endometriosis flare-up is. An Endometriosis flare-up can manifest in many ways. For some, it is an Endo belly, and for others, endo belly is just a normal part of there daily Endometriosis struggle. An endo belly is when the stomach becomes swollen from bloating and inflammation. It looks like you are pregnant, and it's very uncomfortable, to say the least. Flares also can take a toll both physically and mentally. It can feel like somebody is carving your insides out like a pumpkin with a knife that is on fire. They can also cause you to not be able to walk, work or go to school. Make you so tired that you sleep all day and make your whole body ache from the top of your head to you...

Workouts for Endometriosis

Working out is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle but it can be hard when you are in extreme pain so these are some workouts for endometriosis that are meant to help reduce pain and inflammation. Not all of these will work for everyone, some have helped me and others haven't but the only way to know if it will help you is through trial and error just like everything, this is just a list of exercises and if you want to do more research on the benefits for you and your individual endometriosis.  Swimming Water aerobics Brisk walk Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi  Bouldering lunges  squats Sit to stands Clams or Side-lying leg raises Don't worry if you cant works out every day or some weeks not at all just try and stay as active as you can and don't compare yourself to everyone else because that won't help with your mental state and remember not all exercise is good for endo like situps and high-intensity workouts. What workouts help you?

Making a period emergency bag/kit

One of the worst things is getting your period unexpectedly with nothing to help if that's in school or work or even if you are just out at a friend or on a road trip, but no matter where it happens or even if it's expected it is always ideal to have a period kit ready to go that can be in your handbag or backpack. It is very easy to make this on a budget as well. what you will need: Pain killers to take the edge off if needed Sanitary products (whatever you use, reusable products, tampons, pads, or even a period cup or two.) Spare pair of underwear A snack  Sanitary wipes to clean up Bag for used products (for if you are somewhere you cant dispose of disposable sanitary products or to store used products to take home to clean if it's reusable) Bag to store everything in so its easy to grab hand sanitiser for if you get blood on your hands and need to clean up quick Of course, if you think of anything else that could be useful then add that in as well this is just what I fo...

How My First Symptoms Have Progressed

I have had endometriosis for as long as I can remember and because of that I have seen my symptoms grow and new symptoms form so I decided to tell you a bit about how my irst ever symptoms have progressed. the earliest symptoms I remember were painful periods, heavy periods and long periods. I was an early bloomer getting my first period really young and then not getting one again until like a year later (I had spotted in between times) and after that, I was full-on regular. my periods started out at seven days long all good and well but by the time I was ten my periods were upwards of twelve to fourteen days long that was when I was put on birth control which put my periods back to seven days long and then after I fell pregnant at fourteen and had my miscarriage my periods went to five days long and haven't changed since. I remember missing days from school because I would be crying nonstop and vomiting because of the pain. in middle school, it got to the point where some days I c...

Endometriosis Surgery

On the twenty-second of July 2020, I had my Endometriosis surgery after ten years of waiting.  The Video For Surgery I had to wake up at six-forty to get ready for surgery. I took a quick shower and headed to the hospital. By 10:30 I was in the operating room. the atmosphere was really calming and they walked me through everything that was happening. the whole team was male except a few nurses which I would have normally freaked out about but I was freaking out about what they would find when they went in. When I came out of the operating room and woke up it was confirmed with pictures that I had endometriosis. there wasn't a lot but there was new growth growing on the wall between my uterus and intestines that they couldn't get. what they could remove they did and have sent away for testing. my doctor thinks the reason I had so little is because I have been on birth control since I was ten and while it has made my symptoms worse it has stopped the growth; and now that I have g...

Endometriosis diet

the endometriosis diet (also known as the endo diet) is a diet that endometriosis sufferers sometimes go on in hopes of managing there pain and symptoms. while the endo diet didn't work for me i have heard many success stories from women who tried it. in this post, i will be going over what the actual diet is and more tips like that to try and help you. it is with giving it a try because while not everything will work for you you may notice some things that work better than others and the worst that will happen is you go off it because it didn't work like me. foods that may worsen your symptoms are: foods that are high in trans fat: so that things like crackers, cookies, cakes, frozen pies, and other baked goods, coffee creamer and microwave popcorn. red meat gluten high FODMAP: so things like garlic, onion, grains, sweeteners and legumes. alcohol caffeine dairy products things that are good to eat are: fibrous foods: so things like fruits and vegetables. i...

Endometriosis update

On Wednesday the 12th February, I had an appointment with my specialist to discuss the next steps in my treatment plan and this is what is going on and how it went down. it started out with me writing down a list the night before of all the symptoms I have experienced in the past which still affect me today and all the newer ones and printing it off. my list: painful periods, heavy periods (maternity pad soaked on a light day), blood clots (around 20 to 50 cent coin size), Fatigue, pain when I have a full bladder, pain when going toilet, sharp pain in the rectum and lower back when I need/when I have a bowel movement, nausea around ovulation and period, vomiting from pain around period, lower back pain (24/7) with pain increase when I am sitting/standing too long (around period and ovulation), pulling inside near my right ovary on my period when moving that feels like something is stuck and every time I move is pulling, sometimes not being able to walk on m...

Endometriosis: what is it

I am apart of the  one in ten  women who suffer from endometriosis. endometriosis is a chronic illness with an unknown cause but is suspected to have something to do with too much estrogen. while there is no known cure for endometriosis they do have some treatment options which can help subside symptoms and/or help for a short amount of time so far the treatment options are hormones and excision surgery. WHAT IS ENDOMETRIOSIS A disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. I will say that some people do find relief from common pain meds but I'm on 3 kinds of pain killers very strong (1000mg panadol, 500mg mefenamic acid and 100mg tramadol (3x daily for pain)) and as I'm writing this I'm on my last cycle of Noriday which is the 2nd last birth control I can go on before surgery and menopause tablets. now because I want to make the most out of this blog post I'll link my endometriosis playlist which ha...
