Five Misconceptions about endometriosis

Because not a lot is known about Endometriosis there is a lot of misconceptions out there about this terrible condition and I will be covering five of them today and debunking them.  One: everyone has painful periods This one really annoys me because periods are meant to be uncomfortable but not painful, if you have painful periods there is something underlying causing the pain like Endometriosis but it doesn’t always have to be Endometriosis.  Two: The symptoms is just heavy bleeding and pain Again this one really annoys me because there is a lot more to Endometriosis than just heavy bleeding and pain which definitely are common symptoms but it can cause so many more issues for woman and some woman might not even have any symptoms at all.  Three: Endometriosis only affects the pelvic region  Now the most common place for Endometriosis is the pelvic region but this horrible condition spreads like fire all around the body and has even been found in the lungs an...

FAQ about Endometriosis

1:  How common is Endometriosis? Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, but because of the misinformation and misdiagnosis, the actual number is unknown.  2: What is Endometriosis  Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue that usually lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. 3: Is Endometriosis a type of cancer? No Endometriosis isn’t a type of cancer, nor can Endometriosis alone kill you.  4: What medications are used to treat Endometriosis? Pain relief, birth control and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. Hormonal medications help slow the growth of the endometrial tissue and may keep new adhesions from forming. These drugs typically do not get rid of endometriosis tissue that is already there. 5: Is endometriosis a sexually transmitted disease or infectious? No. Endometriosis cannot be transferred from one human being to another. The cause of endometriosis is not yet known, but it is not an infectious disease.  6: How is endometriosis diagnos...

How to make intercourse less painful

Intercourse is something most people don’t expect to be painful after the first time, but for some people with Endometriosis or not but there are ways to help make sex less painful it’s just about finding what works for you.  The first thing is don’t try and have sex if you are already in pain because it will only make it worse; try and have sex on days with little to no discomfort so that it makes it easier to cope.  Lube is your best friend; use it a lot. Water-based is one of the best kinds.  Take it slowly and take breaks if you need to, don’t try and rush yourself into it.  Make sure to empty your bladder before and after sex and maybe even have a warm shower to relax your muscles before you get down to business.  You could try painkillers before sex or an ice pack after sex to help with any pain at the site.  If all else fails, you can buy Dilater to help slowly stretch you out to make it less painful.  If you suffer pain in your uterus af...

The differences between endo, PCOS and Adenomyosis

While I usually only talk about endometriosis here on my blog, I decided that I wanted to spread awareness on two other conditions that you can have as well as endometriosis, and that’s PCOS (polycystic overt syndrome) and Adenomyosis.  Before I start, let’s go over what each one is.  Google defines endometriosis as A disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. With endometriosis, the tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or the intestines. But it can grow anywhere.  Google defines adenomyosis as A condition in which endometrial tissue exists within and grows into the uterine wall. Adenomyosis most often occurs late in childbearing years and typically disappears after menopause Google defines PCOS as A hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. The cause of polycystic ovary syndrome isn't well understood but may involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. So now...

My book on Endometriosis

A few years back, I started writing a book all about endometriosis with details on my story, other peoples stories and just facts and information on this horrible condition.  The book was the whole reason I started this blog because I realised just how little awareness there was at the time about this condition. I wanted to help change that and to spread awareness as far as I could to not only get answers about how endometriosis is caused but also to try and get some sort of cure so that we don’t have to suffer anymore.  Now a few years on, and I’m finally in the editing stages of the book. I had to wait a while for my surgery to be performed, but after that was done, I sat down and finished writing.  Editing this book is more challenging than any other book I have edited before because I have to check all of my references to make sure the information to date is still correct.  I estimate that by June 2022, I will have finished editing everything, and then I can star...
