Castor oil pack | what are they and how to make them

YouTube Video: How to make a castor oil pack

castor oil packs are amazing for a lot of things because of their ability to promote healing, improve circulation especially lymphatic circulation. it has also been found to reduce symptoms of constipation and reduce inflammation which is why it is perfect for what us sufferers call endo belly.

for those who may not be familiar with the term or have come across my blog to learn more about endometriosis. Endo belly is when the stomach swells to make you look very much pregnant, this symptom is actually reported by 83% of sufferers, typically you will wake up with a flat stomach and your stomach grows throughout the day just like bloat.

a castor oil pack is placed over the top of the area you need it for, I typically place it over my belly button and down near my pelvic bone which I find works well for me when it comes to the bloat.

Making a castor oil pack is pretty straight forward, you will need:

  1. Three layers of undyed wool or cotton flannel large enough to cover the affected area
  2. Castor oil
  3. Plastic wrap cut one to two inches larger than the flannel (can be cut from a plastic bag)
  4. Hot water bottle
  5. Container with a lid
  6. Old clothes and sheets. (Castor oil will stain clothing and bedding.)

what you will need to do is:

  1. Place the flannel in the container. Soak it in castor oil so that it is saturated, but not dripping.
  2. Place the pack over the affected body part.
  3. Cover with plastic.
  4. Place the hot water bottle over the pack. Leave it on for 45-60 minutes. Rest while the pack is in place.
  5. After removing the pack, cleanse the area with a dilute solution of water and baking soda.
  6. Store the pack in the covered container in the refrigerator. Each pack may be reused up to 25-30 times.

and there you have it a castor oil pack, they have worked for me a lot in the past and i would love to know if they work for you or if you have tried it in the past.

Resources to learn more about Endometriosis

While my book on endometriosis is finally in the editing stages, it has a while until it will be ready to be published. Still, I got to thinking about what resources there are now about endo, not only from a medical standpoint but also from a sufferers point of view. I found books for sale as well as other blog posts, which was amazing to see how much there is out there. Still, it got me thinking, people who don't know what they are looking for might never find any of these resources, so I thought I would make a blog post detailing what each resource is about and the link to that resource as well as ways you yourself can find information.  Disclaimer: Podcasts will not be involved in this post, but I do have a post on my blog from May 2021 all about endometriosis podcasts if that's what you are looking for.  So how do you find resources? The easiest way to find resources in your area would be to search up online Endometriosis and your area. Example. Endometriosis San Diego  Th
